Awaab’s Law & Social Housing

What is Awaab’s Law?

Awaab’s Law introduces stricter legal requirements around the investigation and remediation of damp and mould hazards within social housing. Housing providers are expected to respond within defined timescales and demonstrate appropriate action, escalation and resident communication.

How quickly should severe damp and mould cases be addressed?

Response times depend on severity and risk. Emergency or high-risk cases involving vulnerable occupants may require urgent attendance within 24 hours. Significant hazards may require remediation or stabilisation measures within 10 days under current guidance and operational frameworks. Dampsafe also provides Emergency Damp & Mould Response support for severe, high-risk and occupied-property cases.
