The right credential for the right purpose
Housing providers, principal contractors and facilities management teams need to understand what a contractor’s evidence actually demonstrates.
A third-party health and safety assessment is different from an individual surveyor’s qualification. ICO fee registration is different from data protection compliance. Operational training and screening support safe delivery but should not be presented as independent accreditations.
This page separates those categories clearly. It gives procurement teams the information needed for initial review while recognising that live certificates, insurance schedules and contract-specific evidence should still be checked during onboarding.

Current Credentials
The following summary identifies Dampsafe’s principal public credentials and operating evidence. Each item has a different purpose and should be considered alongside the service being procured.
SafeContractor approved
Third-party health and safety pre-qualification through an SSIP member scheme.
SSIP recognised
Current SafeContractor approval can support mutual recognition through the SSIP Deem to Satisfy route.
ABBE Level 3
Relevant damp, mould and condensation surveying competence for appropriately scoped compliance surveys.
ICO fee registered
Dampsafe appears on the ICO register of data protection fee payers under reference ZC101027.
SafeContractor Approval
Dampsafe holds SafeContractor approval following assessment against the scheme’s applicable health and safety requirements.
The approval supports supplier pre-qualification and gives clients independently assessed evidence relating to the company’s health and safety management arrangements. It does not remove a client’s responsibility to complete its own proportionate due diligence, confirm the scope required or request contract-specific information.

An important distinction
SafeContractor Ltd—not Dampsafe—is the inspection body accredited by UKAS to ISO/IEC 17020:2012. Dampsafe is a contractor assessed and approved through the SafeContractor scheme. The page should not describe Dampsafe itself as UKAS accredited.
SSIP Recognition
Safety Schemes in Procurement is the mutual-recognition framework for occupational health and safety assessment schemes. SafeContractor is an SSIP registered member scheme.
Common core criteria
SSIP member schemes use shared health and safety core criteria to support consistency in first-stage supplier assessment.
Mutual recognition
A current approval may be used to apply through the Deem to Satisfy route where another SSIP member scheme is specified.
Buyer requirements
A buyer or receiving scheme may still request risk-profile questions, insurance evidence or other information relevant to its contract.
What SSIP does not mean
SSIP recognition should not be described as automatic acceptance for every contract or as removing every additional procurement check. It primarily reduces duplication of the core occupational health and safety assessment.

Dampsafe compliance surveys are completed by appropriately qualified surveyors, including surveyors holding the ABBE Level 3 Award in Damp, Mould and Condensation in Buildings.
The qualification supports structured assessment of damp, mould, condensation, moisture and relevant building-related factors. It provides a technical foundation for reasoned findings, photographic evidence and practical recommendations within the survey’s agreed scope.
It should not be described as an Awaab’s Law accreditation. Awaab’s Law places duties on social landlords, and no individual qualification makes a landlord or contractor automatically compliant.
It also does not by itself qualify a person to undertake technical assessment of every HHSRS hazard. Electrical, structural, fire, gas, asbestos and other specialist concerns require the appropriate competence and referral route.
Data Protection Registration
Dampsafe is listed on the Information Commissioner’s Office register of data protection fee payers under registration reference ZC101027.
ICO register
The public register records organisations that have paid the applicable statutory data protection fee, unless exempt.
Property information
Dampsafe’s work may involve addresses, resident information, photographs, reports and client case-management information.
Privacy information
The website privacy policy should explain the types of personal data processed, purposes, lawful bases, sharing, retention and individual rights.
Registration is not certification
Payment of the ICO data protection fee and inclusion on the register do not certify that every processing activity is lawful or that the ICO has approved Dampsafe’s systems. Data protection compliance depends on the policies, controls and decisions applied in practice.

Operational Controls
The following arrangements support safe and appropriate delivery. They are operating controls and training requirements, not separate company accreditations.
COSHH
Relevant products and activities are supported by COSHH assessment, instructions for use and role-appropriate training.
PPE and RPE
Protective equipment is selected according to the task, product information, risk assessment and working environment.
Asbestos awareness
Awareness training supports recognition and escalation; it does not authorise asbestos surveying, disturbance or removal.
Safeguarding
Occupied-home procedures include awareness, factual recording and escalation through the agreed client route.
DBS checks
DBS checks and other screening requirements are applied according to the role, contract, legal eligibility and client requirements.
RAMS
Risk assessments and method statements are prepared or adapted to the service, environment and contract requirements.
Training evidence
Relevant competence and refresher records are maintained according to role and the work an individual is authorised to undertake.
Occupied-home conduct
Resident communication, household needs, access limitations and respectful working form part of service delivery.
Procurement and Onboarding Evidence
Dampsafe can provide a contract-appropriate evidence pack for procurement, supplier onboarding or mobilisation.
The exact documents depend on the client, service, risk profile and contract. Evidence should be read in its current version and checked against the proposed scope rather than treated as a one-time administrative exercise.
Where a client requires a particular template, portal submission or policy wording, this can be discussed with Dampsafe’s contract team.
